Sapphire Gymnastics Academy

General Policies and Information

Welcome! We are excited to have you as a part of the Sapphire family! There are a few things that you need to know about Sapphire Gymnastics Academy (SGA) to make your class experiences a breeze.  The following information will help you get acquainted with the way the gym runs.  If you have any questions about any of these policies please do not hesitate to ask the front desk.  We are here to help!

When you come to class:  Students may not enter the gym until they are signaled by their instructor.  Parents are not allowed in class areas but are welcome to observe from the waiting area. Please supervise your children in the waiting area for their safety.

Class pick up:  You are not required to stay while your child is in class. Please plan to pick up your children from class on time.  For the safety of your child he/she will not be allowed to leave the building without parent supervision.

Ways to stay informed: At Sapphire Gymnastics Academy there is always something new going on! Here are some great ways to stay informed:

v  Our Website- On sapphiregymnasticsacademy.com we have a page titled “What’s Going On At Sapphire.” This page is devoted to all the fun events, themes, clinics, and camps we host. Also on our website is a calendar with the two upcoming months.

v  Bulletin Boards- At our facility we have a bulletin board posted with all the latest information on our events as well as helpful articles, community events, etc.

v  E-Newsletter- Toward the end of each month we send out a newsletter via email. This includes updates from the past month, along with notices for the future months.

v  The Front Desk Staff- We have staff on hand during all of our open hours to help answer your questions. Feel free to call us, email us, or stop by. We are here to help!

On-going registration:  Once your child is enrolled at SGA (s)he will be enrolled in that session until we are notified otherwise.  This means that all students enrolling in the school year schedule will remain enrolled through the end of May and summer students will be registered June-August.  At the end of each session your enrollment is automatically terminated, and must be renewed for the new session.

Tuition:  Tuition at SGA is automatically billed to your account of choice on the 1st of each month.  Tuition at SGA is the same EVERY month regardless of the number of weeks of class.  Sapphire does not charge extra for months with 5 classes and therefore does not pro-rate for months with 3 classes.  Tuition is NOT pro rated for missed classes.

Ending an enrollment:  If for any reason you wish to end your child’s enrollment, you must provide a written notice 30 days from the first of the month. There are “Withdrawal Forms” available at the Front Desk.  SGA holds a spot for your child in his/her class.  Many of our classes are full and may have waiting lists.  It is out of courtesy to others that we need an accurate record of students in each class.

Registration Fee:  $25/child.  This is a non-refundable annual fee that is due at the time of registration. This fee is charged once per calendar year, on your annual registration date.

Declined Payment Fee:  $20.00

Multiple Family Member/Class discount: The class of greatest value is full price. Every class after receives a 10% discount. This applies to enrollment for multiple children, as well as enrollment for the same child in multiple classes. This is not applicable to any USAG competitive class.

Make-up Policy:  If your child misses a class for any reason you may stop by the front desk to pick up an Open Gym pass. Sapphire Gymnastics Academy does not allow make-ups in regular classes.  However, SGA will allow make ups in other classes during the summer months.

Extreme Weather: SGA will follow the Urbandale or Des Moines Public School District in weather related closings.  This means if Urbandale or Des Moines Public should have a(n),

Late start – all morning activities at SGA will be cancelled

Early out – all evening activities will be cancelled

No school – morning classed will be cancelled and a decision about evening activities will be

                        made by 12pm.

In the event that SGA closes for extreme weather there will be a voice mail on the message system.  Any time the gym is closed for extreme weather students will be able to make up their classes.

Class Sizes:  Maximum class size ratios at SGA are as follows.

            Opals – 6

            Peridot and Jade – 7

Spinel, Tanzanite, Topaz, Alexandrite, and Ruby– 8

Pearls, Diamond Tumbling, Cheerleading – Teacher discretion

Dress Code:  Female students at SGA are to wear any style of leotard and their hair pulled away from their face.  Female students are also permitted to wear tight fitting shorts.  Male students must wear shorts and a t-shirt.  All students are required to be bare foot, and must take off all jewelry.

I have read and understand general policies and information for Sapphire Gymnastics Academy.  I have also asked and have cleared up any questions that I may have about these policies.
